Sequoia humane society

A vibrant dog park bathed in sunlight features abundant greenery with mature trees, offering ample shade for leisurely outdoor activities. In the distance is a well-equipped playground that presents an additional activity area. An inviting picnic table spreads out nearby, ideal for enjoying meals al fresco or taking relaxing breaks from play. A neatly-placed trash bin aids in maintaining the park's cleanliness for everyone's enjoyment. Dominating the scene is a generously wide dirt path gracefully curving through the expanse of grass, promising exploratory walks and lively fetch games.

The Sequoia Humane Society is a privately funded organization in Eureka. As a no-kill shelter, many of dogs (and cats) stay with them for several months, even as long as a year or more – however long it takes to find them a forever home. A shelter environment can be stressful for animals, so they work hard to provide the cats and dogs in our care with enriching activities – and of course, lots of love!

Besides adoptions, Sequoia Humane offers spay/neuter assistance for low-income households, microchipping and DNA testing to the community, as well as humane education and other outreach. Their aim to place every pet that comes to us in a loving, forever home where they will be welcomed as a family member.

If you’re in the area, stop by the Tailwaggers Thrift Shop in Henderson Center (on the corner of Henderson and F Streets, 2737 F Street, Eureka) with your pooch. Tailwaggers provides a major source of support for our shelter and for our mission to save lives.
