A dog-friendly bird’s eye view in Del Norte County

Del Norte County is known for its Redwood National & State Parks, sprawling beaches and two wild rivers with plenty of trail fun, but check out some of their most unique dog-friendly attractions, trails and lodging. There is no better way to experience the enchantment of the redwoods than by gondola ride. Glide 1,500 feet up with your pup through an ancient redwood canopy on the Trees of Mystery’s SkyTrail ride in Klamath. The pooch can enjoy any walking trail within this sprawling nature attraction.

Travel back in time with your pooch on the easy two-mile Myrtle Creek Trail. Learn about the creek’s gold rush days with interpretive signs while meandering through lush greenery. For dogs needing more adventure, check out the California Coastal Trail from the Klamath Overlook. Pups appreciate the miles of trails along rugged shorelines, especially for playful breaks on the beach. The California Coastal Trail intersects with the Crescent City Harbor Trail once you arrive in Crescent City, California. You can stroll along dog-friendly South Beach or play a game of fetch at Dog Town, an off-leash dog park in Beachfront Park.

Recharge and refuel with some delicious craft beer and small-batch pizza. SeaQuake Brewing in Crescent City features a chill patio that happens to be a favorite among local doggos. Settle in for the evening in a lovely creek-side vacation home in Gasquet with room for your dog to explore the Smith River. Pamper your pup at this Crescent City beachfront bungalow for seaside walks every morning. Overlooking Pebble Beach, your pup will feel special at this Airbnb with their own bed and welcome basket. Goodies include a toy for beach playtime.
