This is a great park to see some of the local attractions, ride your bike, walk your dog, or picnic, right on Highway 101 in downtown Crescent City. The location makes it convenient if you’re passing through on the coast, with easy access and plenty of parking.
At the East end of Beachfront Park is Dogtown Park, a dedicated dog area featuring a bone-shaped concrete space with benches where you can sit while your dog explores. There are fire hydrants set up specifically for dogs to drink from, which is helpful when you’re spending time here. The dedicated dog area means your dog gets a space designed with them in mind, separate from the main park activities.
The West end of the park opens up toward the pier, the lighthouse, and the jetty — there’s actually a lot to explore once you’re here. You can easily walk the beach with your dog on a leash, take photos at the lighthouse, or just enjoy the water views while your dog gets exercise. It’s the kind of spot where you can spend an afternoon doing different things without having to load up and drive elsewhere.
The Chamber of Commerce is located at the park entrance, so if you’re new to the area and want recommendations for other things to do in Crescent City, you can stop in quickly. There are RV parks and hotels right next to the property, which is convenient if you’re planning an overnight trip. Since dogs need to stay on a leash while on the beach and in the park, you won’t have to worry about off-leash interactions with other dogs. The combination of a dedicated dog area, beach access, and nearby amenities makes this a practical stop whether you’re just passing through or spending more time on the North Coast.
