This Spanish Revival building from 1932 sits right on Half Moon Bay’s Main Street, and after a thoughtful renovation, it manages to feel both historic and comfortable. The terra cotta tiled terrazzo is the real heart of the place—grab a cup of their local roasted coffee in the morning and your dog will be happy sitting beside you while you watch the street come alive. The on-site restaurant, It’s Italia, has a fireplace-warmed patio where you can enjoy a meal with your dog nearby, a welcome alternative to dining in your room.
The rooms themselves are genuinely pleasant without being overdone. You get a private bath, flat screen TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a bed with nice linens. The in-room coffee is a nice touch, and they stock locally made soaps and shampoos. A few select rooms open directly onto that terrazzo, which is worth asking about when you book. Everything about the place feels like it came from Half Moon Bay rather than a corporate chain catalog—the carved furniture and fresco murals in the lobby were created by local artists.
There’s a $50 pet fee per stay. Free parking is included, so you won’t be stressed about where to leave your car after driving up the coast. The downtown location means you can walk to most of Half Moon Bay’s restaurants and shops without needing to drive.
For actual outdoor time with your dog, the Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail starts nearby—it’s a paved path running for miles along the bluffs with constant ocean views. Poplar Beach is just a short drive away if you want off-leash beach time. The town itself fills with pumpkin patches and festivals in fall, which makes it worth timing a visit if you’re into that sort of thing. It’s straightforward, honest hospitality in a town that genuinely cares about being dog-friendly.
