Mountain Village RV Park is owned and operated by Jim Hendricks, who built it with his late wife Betty back in 1999. They were longtime residents of Scott Valley and wanted to give RVers a chance to experience this beautiful hidden corner of Siskiyou County without leaving the comfort of their own traveling home.
The park itself is well-maintained and genuinely clean—you can tell they take that seriously. It’s not fancy, but it’s thoughtfully set up with the conveniences you actually need for a comfortable stay. The setting feels remote enough to be a real escape but accessible enough that you’re not stranded out there.
Getting there from I-5 is straightforward. Exit at 773 near Yreka and head west on Fort Jones Highway (Highway 3). You’ll drive about 26.5 miles into Scott Valley, passing through small mountain communities. When you reach Etna, look for Dotty’s Cafe on your left—the park entrance is just a quarter mile past that landmark. The drive winds through scenic valley terrain, and you’ll see why the Hendricks wanted to share this area with others.
The location works well if you’re exploring the northern California mountains or using it as a base for outdoor activities in the region. Scott Valley has its own quiet appeal, and you’re close enough to spot wildlife and enjoy the kind of scenery that makes you remember why you hit the road in the first place. The park gives you space to spread out without the crowds you’d find at busier campgrounds closer to major highways.
Since it’s a smaller operation, conditions and availability can vary seasonally, so calling ahead before you head out makes sense, especially if you’re traveling with a larger rig or need specific hookups.
