The east side of Paws Dog Park opens directly onto a wide, grassy run where dogs sprint in straight lines without much obstruction—a relief in Riverside County where shade can feel like a luxury. The park spans several acres with enough distance between the perimeter fence and play zones that even anxious dogs get a buffer before reaching the boundary. Mature trees cluster along the back section, providing actual afternoon cover during summer months when temperatures climb into the triple digits.
Dogs under 25 pounds have their own fenced area on the west side, separated by a secure gate so smaller dogs aren’t bulldozed by the larger crew. Both sections drain reasonably well after rain, though the main yard turns soft in spots rather than staying firm. Water bowls are set up in each zone, though you’ll want to bring extra on hot days since the park fills up and bowls empty fast. The park operates dawn to dusk, which means early morning visits in summer are genuinely more comfortable than afternoon sessions—and the crowd thins considerably by mid-morning on weekdays.
The dog park sits just south of the Ponds area near the city’s recreation facilities, putting it within reasonable distance of the downtown Perris commercial corridor. Surface is mostly grass with some bare patches where high-traffic areas wear thin. Parking is directly adjacent, and there’s a small picnic table setup if you want to stay longer than a quick exercise run. The fencing is solid and well-maintained, though the park does see moderately heavy use, so you’ll encounter other dogs—especially on weekends and early mornings when locals rotate their schedules around the heat.
