Sand Harbor Beach

Sand Harbor Beach

Situated on the breathtaking shores of Lake Tahoe within the Tahoe Nevada State Park, Sand Harbor Beach is renowned for its crystal clear waters, sandy beaches, and awe-inspiring mountain views. During the winter months, dog owners can delight in exploring the park’s pristine landscapes with their furry companions, as pets are welcome on the beach and trails in the off-season.

The East Shore Trail, a scenic path traversing the lake’s shoreline, offers a picturesque hiking experience for visitors and their dogs. As pet owners explore this captivating trail, it is essential to bring their own poop bags and clean up after their pets to maintain the park’s pristine conditions. During July and August, beach patrol ensures that restrictions on pets are enforced to preserve the area’s natural beauty and provide a safe environment for all visitors.

Sand Harbor features a well-maintained boat launch and boat ramp, allowing visitors to partake in aquatic activities while admiring the stunning surroundings. Additionally, the park is home to the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, a popular cultural event that showcases classic theatrical performances in a unique outdoor setting.

Please be advised that walk-ins and parking along Highway 28 near Sand Harbor are not recommended. Instead, visitors can take advantage of the East Shore Express, a convenient shuttle service that transports guests to and from the park. The Sand Harbor Visitor Center is open year-round, offering valuable information, maps, and resources for guests.

In the park, visitors can explore secluded beaches, group areas, and nature trails, ensuring a memorable experience for all. For dog owners seeking a serene and picturesque destination during the winter months, Sand Harbor is an ideal choice, providing unforgettable outdoor adventures and breathtaking beauty.
