The Waters Edge Hotel in Tiburon sits right on the water with clear views across to the San Francisco skyline and the bay beyond. It’s the kind of place where you can actually walk out and see boats moving through the marina, which my dog found endlessly entertaining from the patio.
Dogs get real consideration here. Your room includes a comfortable bed for your dog, food and water bowls, and a few treats when you arrive. The hotel understands that dogs traveling with their owners need their own setup to feel settled, not just permission to tag along.
The location is genuinely convenient for exploring with a dog. You’re steps from the Tiburon waterfront paths that run right along the water’s edge—these are the kind of walks where your dog can see action (birds, boats, other dogs) without dodging traffic. The whole downtown is walkable from here, and restaurants with outdoor seating line the main streets, many allowing dogs on their patios. We grabbed coffee at a couple of cafes within a ten-minute walk while our dog waited at an outdoor table.
Tiburon itself has a relaxed feel that works well for traveling with dogs. You’re not fighting crowds or dealing with that hectic Bay Area energy. The town moves slower. If you want to do something different, the Angel Island ferry terminal is nearby—dogs ride free on certain sailings and the island itself has trails that let you get out of the hotel environment for a few hours.
The hotel’s outdoor patio is honestly nice for just sitting, which ended up being part of our rhythm. Some days we’d walk, explore the shops along Main Street, grab food at a dog-friendly spot, then come back to watch the water and watch the light change. That was the whole trip, really, and the hotel setup made it easy to do exactly that without complicated logistics.
