“Small. In a Big Way.” That’s the Visit Vacaville tagline, and it hints at what sets this sunny community apart. Tucked between the Vaca Mountains and the Sacramento Valley, Vacaville is rich with culinary surprises, cultural attractions and patios for pints. Shoppers love pet-focused boutiques and classics like Nut Tree Plaza. And, of course, the town has delightful dog parks.
Explore Vacaville’s pup culture scene at two especially inviting dog parks. In town, Centennial Park has doggie drinking fountains and fenced areas for pups of different sizes. The dog park at Lagoon Valley recently reopened after renovations. Crews planted new trees, expanded off-leash areas for small and large dogs, and added new gates, higher fences and paved walkways. If you’re a springtime visitor, don’t miss the annual SPCA of Solano County Paws for a Cause Dog-Walk-a-thon at Lagoon Valley Lake. (The 2025 event takes place on Saturday, April 26.)
Though wine country is in Vacaville’s backyard, local stops also pour California beers. The Brass Tap has patio seating for dogs, complete with treats, water bowls and yappy hour events. Try the Main Grape’s outdoor patio for beer and wine. For cocktails, grab a table on the terrace at The Library. Or, order fresh food and drinks at dog-friendly spots like Los Reyes Restaurante Y Cantina, Vasquez Deli or Merchant & Main Grill & Bar.
Sweet Pea’s Pet Boutique and Pawsh Place Veterinary Center & Boutique are tops for dog treats, toys and supplies. Swing by Nut Tree Plaza for more shopping and dining, or take in more than 20 public art installations on the Vacaville Arts Trail.
