Redding hotels for hounds and the humans who follow

In a region with so many dog-friendly adventures, it’s only natural that lodging properties would roll out the red carpet for pups. In Redding, hotels, motels, B&Bs and RV parks offer thoughtful amenities ranging from water bowls to dog beds to menus for canine travelers. Best of all, these comfortable accommodations are just minutes from the trails, lakes, museums and restaurants that make this place so special.

Set near Redding’s famous icon, the Sheraton Redding Hotel at the Sundial Bridge is a four-star standout. Sure, the hotel’s location is amazing — but the warm welcome extended to pups is even better. The on-site restaurant, Mosaic, has a dedicated dog menu (including frozen desserts for hot dogs), and the front desk offers a free guide to pet-friendly adventures.

The Best Western Plus Hilltop Inn is another top spot for dogs and their people. More than half of the hotel’s rooms are pet-friendly, and the property welcomes up to two dogs per room (pups must be 80 pounds or less). Pet fees are an affordable $30 per night.

Other Redding properties, including the Red Lion Inn and La Quinta Inn & Suites, also accommodate dogs. As always, call ahead to confirm rules, fees and room availability.

Beyond your hotel room, Redding is packed with things to do with your dog. The Sacramento River Trail stretches over 20 miles and connects right to the Sundial Bridge — perfect for a morning walk before breakfast. Whiskeytown Lake is a short drive away, offering swimming beaches where leashed dogs are welcome to splash around. And if you’re visiting in the cooler months, the trails at Turtle Bay Exploration Park provide easy, scenic loops that dogs love.

For meals, several Redding restaurants have dog-friendly patios where you can refuel after a day of exploring. The combination of outdoor access, welcoming lodging, and reasonable pet fees makes Redding one of Northern California’s most practical dog-travel destinations.
