Strike gold with El Dorado County wines

A vibrant dog park bathed in sunlight features abundant greenery with mature trees, offering ample shade for leisurely outdoor activities. In the distance is a well-equipped playground that presents an additional activity area. An inviting picnic table spreads out nearby, ideal for enjoying meals al fresco or taking relaxing breaks from play. A neatly-placed trash bin aids in maintaining the park's cleanliness for everyone's enjoyment. Dominating the scene is a generously wide dirt path gracefully curving through the expanse of grass, promising exploratory walks and lively fetch games.

Although sprawling El Dorado County has quite a few craft breweries, it’s better known for its wine, apples and other fresh produce. The EDC Wine Trail features more than a dozen wineries on both sides of Highway 50 that welcome dogs and provide scenic rural vistas in the process.

To try a sample of both fruit of the vine and fresh-brewed beer at one dog-friendly property, head to Gold Hill Vineyard & Brewery between Placerville and Auburn. The Gold Hill winery has been producing Bordeaux-style reds and Chardonnay for decades and produces beer in classic styles, from dry Irish stout to Scotch ale and hoppy IPAs. Live music on second and fourth Fridays now into fall will liven up the visitor experience.
