Colorado Lodge

606 Jeffries Road, Big Bear Lake, California 92315

(909) 494-2380

Colorado Lodge is a design-forward mountain retreat set on two wooded acres in the heart of Big Bear Lake. Conceived by Echo Park architects and builders, the property features six spread-out Nordic-style cabins with striking interiors — think Baltic Birch-lined walls, custom cabinetry, and angular tile work. Every cabin includes a semi to full kitchen, comfortable bedding, bath robes, and quality soaps, along with front and back porches for outdoor lounging.

Dogs are welcome in all cabins, with up to two allowed per cabin. There’s a $75 nonrefundable pet fee per dog, and you’ll need pre-approval from the lodge at the time of booking. Management will send you a link to pay the fee and provide written approval before arrival. You’re expected to pick up after your dog immediately on the property, which makes sense given the intimate setting.

The location works well for exploring Big Bear. You’re within walking distance of the Village shops and the lake itself, and just a few blocks from Snow Summit if you’re visiting during ski season. The lodge sits high enough that you get that real mountain feeling without being isolated.

Beyond the cabins, guests share access to a community hot tub, fire pit lounge, hammocks, and a large deck scattered among the towering pines. The spaces feel genuinely relaxing rather than cramped. With only six cabins total, it never feels crowded, and the architectural detail throughout means you’re not staying in a generic mountain rental.

If your dog enjoys moderate hiking and you want a stylish base for exploring the lake area, this hits a different note than the typical Big Bear lodge experience. The Scandinavian design aesthetic carries through to how the spaces actually function — clean lines, good flow between indoor and outdoor areas, and enough separation between cabins that you won’t hear your neighbors’ dogs barking. Just remember that pre-approval and the pet fee both need to happen when you book, not as add-ons later.
