Holcomb Valley Campground, located about 5 miles north of Big Bear Lake, offers 19 single-family sites on a first-come-first-served basis, without the need for reservations. It’s accessible year-round, depending on road conditions, which can be checked by contacting the Big Bear Discovery Center. Each site allows up to 8 people and includes a picnic table, fire ring, bear-proof storage, and vault toilets. Note that water isn’t available on site. A campground host is present from mid-May through October. Dogs are welcome, provided they are kept on a leash.
