The Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country sits in the heart of Santa Rosa’s wine country, and it’s one of the few upscale hotels in the area that genuinely welcomes dogs without treating it like an afterthought. We stayed here with our dog during a weekend trip, and the staff was straightforward about their pet policy from check-in onward.
The rooms are spacious and modern, which matters when you’re sharing the space with a dog. Our room had plenty of floor space for our dog to move around comfortably, and we appreciated that housekeeping was considerate about timing and didn’t rush us out during the day. The hotel has 155 guestrooms and suites total, so you won’t feel like you’re in a tiny place.
Beyond the room, there’s actual stuff to do here. The grounds feature jogging and bike trails that work well for dog walks—we took our dog out multiple times without feeling like we were just circling the parking lot. There’s also a sculpture garden with local artist work if you want a quieter stroll. The hotel has an 80-foot water wall, heated outdoor pool, and hot tub for guests, though those are obviously people-only amenities. The lobby café serves decent coffee if you need caffeine before heading out to explore the surrounding wine country.
They do charge an extra pet fee for the room, which is standard at this level of hotel. The airport shuttle is also an additional fee, which matters if you’re flying into San Francisco or Oakland. High-speed internet is complimentary, and there’s a 24-hour fitness center if you want to work out while your dog naps in the room.
The location itself is convenient for exploring Santa Rosa’s downtown and nearby wineries, many of which have dog-friendly patios or allow leashed dogs on their grounds during tasting hours.
