Jacks Peak Park, part of Monterey County Parks, overlooks the spectacular Monterey Peninsula and is located about two miles from Scenic Highway 68. A natural preserve, the park’s 525 acres of ridgetop is set amidst native Monterey Pines. Many hiking trails wind through cathedral-like forests and to breathtaking ridge top vistas. he abundance of trees, flowers and wildlife at Jacks Peak make it the perfect destination for any nature enthusiast.
The Skyline Self-Guided Nature Trail is an 8.5 mile trail that traverses the summit of Jacks Peak and features fossils from the Miocene epoch.
Brochures describing features along the trail are available at the entrance station. Visitors can also enjoy other activities including nature study, photography and picnics. The Monterey Pines group area is available by reservation for groups up to 50 people with a bbq pit and tables for a quiet outing.
Dogs are welcome at all County of Monterey parks, trails and campgrounds. They must be on a leash no longer than 6’ and supervised at all times. Please be courteous and pick up after your pets, keeping the parks beautiful for everyone to enjoy.
