Snowflower RV Resort sits in the Emigrant Gap area of the Sierras, where you can pull in with an RV, pitch a tent, or stay in a cabin or yurt depending on what works for your trip. Dogs are welcome throughout the campground and in many of the cabins and yurts, so you’ve got flexibility in how you set up. The resort operates year-round, which means you can plan a winter getaway if you’re into snowy adventures or come when the weather’s warmer.
The property itself has solid amenities—an Alpine Lodge, swimming pool, playgrounds, and sports courts scattered around. If you want to get outside, the Recreation Department can connect you with fishing, kayaking, nature hikes, arts and crafts, and can point you toward adjacent lands for mountain biking and ATV riding. The cabins come with full kitchens, which is nice if you want to cook some meals rather than eat out every night.
What makes this location work well is proximity to other things. Truckee is nearby with restaurants, cafes, and shops if you want to explore town. Lake Tahoe’s shoreline is less than 20 minutes away, so it’s easy to drive over for a day trip or to break up your stay. The setting puts you in the mountains without feeling completely isolated from those kinds of options.
The accommodations range from RV sites with hookups to canvas yurts for a different experience than a traditional hotel room. You could spend your days hiking around the property or heading out to nearby trails, then come back to a comfortable spot for the night. The mix of on-site activities and proximity to bigger attractions means you’re not locked into any one way of spending your time here.
