Does your dog get a Christmas stocking? Yeah, ours do, too. It’s fun to buy treats and toys for four-legged family members, especially ones that keep them busy throughout what in many households is a very busy day (you know, gift-opening, big meal, football, naps….). So what’s trending this year? Our friends at Pet Food Express gave us a few leads, and we sleuthed through Santa’s workshop for a few more.
These can be scary times for Great Danes. Colleen Leahy, who co-founded Great Dane Rescue of Northern California in the Sacramento area back in 1987, says it's a rare day that she doesn't hear from someone looking to re-home a Dane. Sometimes it's just a mismatch, in which the humans are simply unprepared to deal with training and caring for a big dog. More often, people lose homes and jobs and have to give up their companions.
Great Dane Rescue of Northern California stands ready to act as a safety net for these lovable giants, whether it's a matter of landing in a shelter, developing medical issues because their people don't understand large-breed nutritional issues, or ending up in some other fix.
