Coyote Pond Park

Coyote Pond Park sprawls across 24.5 acres on the edge of Lincoln and gives you plenty of room to explore with your dog without feeling crowded. The park’s paved trail system is smooth and easy to navigate, which means you can take it at whatever pace works for your dog—whether that’s a slow amble or a proper workout. The main loop winds through open areas and passes the pond itself, which is peaceful and quiet enough that you’ll actually hear birds and rustling in the trees rather than just traffic noise.

Beyond the trails, the park has a play structure and picnic areas scattered throughout, so if you’re coming with family, there’s something for everyone. The pond is the real focal point—it’s genuinely pretty, especially if you time it right for golden hour, and it gives the whole place a less-manicured feel than a typical municipal park. You’ll notice the Gold Country landscape around you, which has that foothill character without being dramatically steep or remote.

The facilities are well-kept, and since everything is paved, the trails are accessible even if your dog is older or you’re pushing a stroller. On weekends it can get moderately busy with families and other dog owners, but the size of the park means you’re not tripping over people on the trails. The open design also means there are plenty of spots to sit and just watch your dog do their thing if you want a break.

Parking is straightforward and right near the main trail entrance. The park doesn’t have a ton of shade in some areas, so afternoon visits in summer can be hot—bring water and consider going earlier in the day if the forecast is warm. Check the Lincoln Parks and Recreation website for any seasonal updates or special events happening during your visit.
